             MS in Mathematics and Computing Programme – August 2025

IISER Pune invites applications from highly motivated students for admissions to the Master of Science (MS) in Mathematics and Computing programme for the session August 2025. For details on the programme and course structure, visit

Minimum Eligibility Criteria:

Minimum 60% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; not only in majoring subject) or an equivalent C.G.P.A. on a 10-point scale (55% or an equivalent C.G.P.A. on a 10-point scale in aggregate for SC, ST, and PWD candidates) in B.Sc. in any specialisation or B.E./B.Tech.

Candidates in the final year of their Bachelor's degree are also eligible to apply. However, their final selection is subject to their successful completion of the Bachelor's degree with the above-mentioned requirements at the time of admission.

Application and Selection Process:

  1. Only online applications will be accepted. Incomplete applications will be rejected.
  2. The candidates must carefully fill out and submit the online application form on or before 05.00 PM, 27th May, 2025
  3. The selection to the programme will be based on a two-stage written test to be held on Sunday,8th June,2025 at the IISER Pune campus or in a nearby location in Pune.
  4. After the last date of application, all the applications will be screened, and the list of candidates eligible for the written test will be released. The venue of the exam will also be announced.
  5. Based on the performance in the written test, the final list of candidates selected for the programme will be released in due time.
  6. Kindly note that a standard non-refundable application fee applies to all programme applications.

  3. Relaxation of eligibility criteria for reserved category applicants will be as per the Government of India norms. Candidates belonging to the reserved category will have to submit relevant certificates if selected.
  4. Applying does not automatically guarantee that a candidate will be selected. Depending upon the number of applications received, IISER may apply additional criteria to shortlist students for the written test and to select for admission.

 

Integrated Ph.D. Programme in Mathematics - August 2025

 

Minimum Eligibility Criteria:

 

Students with minimum 60% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; not only in majoring subject) or an equivalent C.G.P.A on a 10-point scale (55% or an equivalent C.G.P.A in aggregate for SC, ST and PD candidates) in any Bachelor’s degree in related branches satisfying the above criteria of marks can apply. 

 

Additionally, the candidate MUST satisfy any ONE of the following criteria:

  1. Appeared for NBHM Master’s scholarship written exam in 2025 and was shortlisted in NBHM Master’s Interview Shortlist (MIS).
  2. Appeared for the JAM 2025 exam in MA or MS only.

 

 (*Validity: The scores/ranks MUST be valid at the time of admission.)  

Candidates in the final year of qualifying degree are also eligible to apply. However, their final selection is subject to their successful completion of the qualifying degree with the above mentioned requirements at the time of admission i.e. on August 01, 2025.

 

For all the national eligibility examinations which provide a common rank / score, the cut-off rank / score for shortlisting for the Interviews for the reserved categories shall be lowered to 1.25 times the General category rank / score.

 

Shortlisted applicants will have to clear a two-stage written examination to be held on the IISER Pune campus. Students clearing the written examinations will be called for an online interview.

 

 

 

 

Ph.D. Programme in Mathematics - August 2025

 

 

 

Minimum Eligibility Criteria:

 

Students with minimum 60% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; not only in majoring subject) or an equivalent C.G.P.A on a 10-point scale (55% or an equivalent C.G.P.A in aggregate for SC,ST and PD candidates) in any Master’s degree or B.E., B. Tech. in related branches satisfying the above criteria of marks can apply. 

 

Additionally, the candidate MUST satisfy any ONE of the following criteria:

  1. Appeared for NBHM Ph.D. written exam in 2025 and was shortlisted in NBHM Doctoral Interview Shortlist (DIS).
  2. Qualified National Eligibility Test (NET) with valid* CSIR-JRF/UGC-JRF in Mathematics or Computer Science and Applications.
  3. Valid* GATE rank (Rank up to 40 for unreserved category candidates, and up to 50 for reserved category candidates) in Mathematics or Computer Science and Information Technology.
  4. Integrated BS-MS, MS (or MSc) from any of the IISERs/IITs/IISc with a C.G.P.A more than or equal to 8 out of 10.
